Apollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC)

Apollo Proton Cancer Center (APCC), Chennai, is a specialized cancer hospital founded on a single central objective: providing advanced, comprehensive treatment for patients with complex and challenging cancers. Inaugurated in January 2019, the center became the first proton therapy facility in South Asia and the Middle East. It introduced proton therapy to India while building a broader cancer program that integrates surgery, systemic treatment and radiation oncology.

The center's major distinction is its multi-room proton therapy facility, complemented by advanced radiation therapy, robotic and conventional cancer surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, bone marrow transplantation, and other specialized oncology procedures. APCC uses organ-specific Cancer Management Teams, bringing together surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, genetics and pathology specialists to review individual cases.

For international patients, this multidisciplinary model can be particularly valuable when a case requires several treatment approaches or when patients are traveling to India for a second opinion. The center provides pre-arrival medical review, international coordination, visa assistance, airport support, interpreters, and post-treatment teleconsultation services.

Its 150-bed infrastructure includes clinical, research, and intensive-care capacity, allowing patients to receive specialized cancer treatment and access dedicated critical-care support when medically necessary.
